Help build the first open corpus of expert quotes on AI policy
Because if we don’t know what we want, we won’t get there.
As Pope Leo’s recent encyclical on AI (Magnifica humanitas) and the AI labs themselves say, we should all participate in deciding how AI should transform civilization. We need to make AI safe, handle the impact on jobs and make sure that middle and small countries are not forgotten.
To do my bit, I’m forming a small team of volunteers for the next stage of YouCongress. YouCongress is a non-profit and open source platform that makes citizen and expert preferences visible on AI governance and impact on jobs.
It has two layers. The first one is a data layer that consists of a corpus of quotes of experts and public figures on both sides of AI policy proposals and claims. The second one, which will be useful once the first layer is meaningful, is a participation layer where citizens can give their opinion, vote on the policy proposals and delegate to other users and experts and public figures (we infer experts’ votes from their quotes).
We’ve gathered 3000 quotes and every day our AI agents add new ones. I’m looking for people who want to be the first founding YouCongresists to manually verify quotes, curate the dataset of policies and manage the AI agents.
You can now be an early contributor to an open dataset that will be cited, learn about AI governance and impact on jobs and shape the policy taxonomy.
We’re starting online calls every two weeks. But you can also participate asynchronously if you prefer.
Reach me at hector@youcongress.org and include in the subject how you would like to help: “curation”, “agents”, “verification” or the public figure you’d like to adopt (e.g. “Pope Leo”) to make sure their views are accurately reflected on YouCongress and I’ll reply you.
